Mr Jari, he’s not going to nation build. He’s negotiating an armistice. Yes, with the enemy, it’s now at the signals, gestures, prodding stage.

He reaches out to the Muslim World in interviews, speeches, bowing and most recently put some real meat on the table.

It’s called NYC, giving them show trials and the stage of stages to put America and it’s (defective) system of civilian justice on trial, probably embarrass, indict and ruin with legal fees some CIA, DOJ, and Bushie officials. And some SOF.

At the same time he “touches them up a little”* with reinforcements, drone strikes…and some of the detainees get military trials.

The enemy may take the bait to get a breather. And it helps that KSM is about to revive their fortunes morally and in terms of recruiting and fundraising.

This renders the point of Afghanistan – protecting the American and European (mainly British) homelands – quite moot. Summary of US domestic security situation:

*Prosecuting Intel and probably others for defending the country effectively threw open the gates and drove the defenders to their lawyers, understandably.

*Hasan came thru the gates. There will be more. (We’ve both seen this movie).

*Giving the Key Terrorists civilian trials tears the gates off the hinges. There are no defenses now left to man, and only a fool would, facing prison, ruinous legal bills, and public exposure. Nor do I think a wise source would talk to us now.

So we negotiate a Hudna, bring them home, say the GWOT is over (already said) and let intel/Law Enforcement handle it. That’s the plan.

1) It’s not our business, or if you like..not our problem.

2) It’s not possible.

3) We’re broke.

On point #2 – you yourself make the best case, or rather reality makes it for you.

Let’s remember the last person to bring “peace” to the Balkans was Tito. He did it by being Stalin.

If we weren’t broke, didn’t have our own problems, and for some progressive (insane) reason and wanted to bring peace on earth, here’ where we should start – by reversing the divisions of the World drawn up at Versailles:

That’s Ralph Peter’s “Blood Borders” map. Even he doesn’t think it’s a good idea. But it would stabilize – after another World War – conflicts along more ethnically proper lines.

Obama needs to hold a cocked pistol to some Generals head, fly over on Air Force One, grab some troops and bring them home himself. That’s the Chicago way.

I will be interested to see whether this has any major effect on the current situation though. I seriously doubt this will be seen as Obama’s “ticket out.” All the reports coming out from sources around the White House have indicated that he believes withdrawal is not an option. If that’s the case, then what effect does this have on the Afghans? Does it have any? (I’m not saying that to imply Afghans don’t care about free elections, everything thus far points to the fact that they do, I’m just wondering how many of them have gone cynical and simply don’t see a remedy for the current situation).
